One day angkor wat tour

We were able to get a last minute one day tour with initerary modifications since I really wanted to see Beng Mealea. I would definitely recommend seeing it, it's very different from the other temples. Our tour guide Kim was great, he knew all the perfect spots for pictures to avoid crowds. Wish we had more time to do their three day tour.

1 Day trip Bangkok to Angkor and back

I couldn't be more impressed by Sophoan and his team throughout the entire day of out 1 day trip. Our drivers were always where they needed to be. We met our first driver in our lobby of our AirBnB a few minutes before 3AM, and had an easy, fast trip to the Thai/Cambodia border. He dropped us right off with a guy that walked us through the border and helped us every step of the way which was incredibly helpful because there is a lot going on in that area of PoiPet. The Cambodian immigration was a little picky about pictures that we brought, so they charged us to take new, better photos (about $3 usd extra..not the end of the world). Then he passed us to another driver and we were on our way through Cambodia to Siem Reap. There are some very cool sights to see on the way regarding the differences in cultures. We arrived in Siem Reap and met our guide, Kim. He was absolutely fantastic. Very knowledgeable. Very patient with us and willing to see/do whatever we wanted while there. He spoke English plenty well enough to understand and was also a great photographer of my girlfriend and I. He knows all of the beautiful spots. We chose to see AngkorWat, Angkor Thom, and Ta Prohm in depth and also walked by a few others and Kim was the and helpful the entire time.

Then, when we were done we hopped in the car and went back to the border, met the same man that originally helped us cross to cross again, hopped in another van and drove all the way back to Bangkok.

There are a lot of moving parts, but all men contacted each other frequently and always put us first. This is the best way to see Angkor Wat and the surrounding area. Hands down.

Sophoan even made and appearance with us as he was giving another tour. He was incredibly polite and helpful just like Kim.

These guys are great. Worth the money. Worth the travel time from Bangkok.

Day trip from Bangkok

We’re not the type to book guided tours but we’re certainly happy we did for this trip and even more happy with the choice of guides. Everything was as promised and exactly what we wanted.

The day started early with a 3am pickup at our hotel. The driver was even 30 mins early in case we wanted to get going earlier. The van ride was long (~3 hours) but pretty comfortable, it was a larger passenger van with only two of us on board; so we were able to stretch out and nap until we got to the Cambodian border.

Once at the border we met another gentlemen who escorted us through the process of departing Thailand and crossing into Cambodia. You have to go through Thai customs and then through Cambodian immigration. On the Cambodian side we got a different driver who was with us until we returned to the Thai border that evening.

Once in Cambodia you need a tourist visa which is available on the spot. But the guide service takes care of that. The only uncomfortable situation is parting with your passport for 15-20 mins while you sit in the car with the driver and the guide takes the passport in for the visa. I never like doing that but it all worked out as planned.

From the border we drove to Siem Reap (about 2 more hours) where we picked up Sophoan Rath, the actual park guide who would walk us around Angkor Wat.

His English was very good and he was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about he entire park. The park is HUGE! But the driver drove us from temple to temple and Mr Rath walked us around each educating us on the temple, it’s history and the local environment.

Along the way they took us to a couple of great restaurants for breakfast before we started and lunch in the early afternoon.

It was a fascinating trip and a must do if you’re close to Cambodia Public Service Announcement It’s really hot there so dress in cool clothing, there wasn’t much of a breeze for us so it felt hotter than it was...prepare to sweat... a lot.

While you need to dress appropriate for entering the temples ( covered knees and shoulders) you can still dress cool, I “invested in some loose Thai (aka Aladdin Pants) and a very light linen shirt...$15 all in).

Stay hydrated, we only found Gatorade in a couple of spots and none in the park; but we did find this little life saver called Pocari Sweat which is an electrolyte drink in a Red Bull looking can (see pic). My wife was feeling ill but this perked her right up. And it was easy to find at the stands in the park and only $1.

US $ is the accepted currency there and everyone takes it, they actually prefer it.

I highly recommend this group, very friendly, professional and made the trip rewarding and easy. I’m sure we would have figured out the border crossing process but no need when they take care of everything. Plus, the park is huge and they know there way around. It’s also nice to have an air conditioned car waiting on you :-). Yes, I’m an American :-)

Great Travel Company for South East Asia! I traveled throughout South East Asia with a group of 43 and used Mr. Sohpoan Rath's travel company for most all of our travel in our four months in Thailand and Cambodia!

Here is a detailed review of each of our trips we used Mr. Sophoan Rath for:

November 11th Phnom Penh to Bangkok:

Everything went really smoothly and great! From Phnom Penh to the border on the bus and the minibus there was enough space for everyone and all of the bags! From the Border to Bangkok there was also enough space for everyone and all of the bags on each of the mini vans! Also having you there to translate and help direct us through the border was very helpful, and your english is very good! All in all was a very good trip!

January 6th Bangkok to Siem Reap:

This whole exchange was very smooth and very enjoyable for all. Being able to go all the way through from Bangkok to Siem Reap on the same bus and not have to carry our things through border control was very nice and we were all excited when we heard about this! On the bus and the mini van that we took all the way through there was enough space for everyone and all of the bags. Also having you there again to direct and translate was very helpful to the whole ordeal and making everything go smoothly! This trip went very well and was a very good experience!

February 6th Battambang to Kompong Thom:

This trip also went very smoothly! The pickup of the other 2 passengers in Siem Reap on the way went very well! There was enough space on the minibus for all of us and our bags. Also the driver spoke good enough english so that we could communicate a few things like stopping for lunch and things like that which was helpful! All in all this trip went well and was a good experience!

February 26th Kompong Thom to Siem Reap (4 to Battambang):

This trip went pretty well. The minivan from Kompong Thom to Siem Reap was a little tight for the 10 of us with all of our stuff, but for sure wasn't the worst by any means. After the 4 left in Siem Reap towards Battambang we had an easy time getting to the hostel we were staying at which was really good! The 4 that went to Battambang had a good experience and had no complaints!

March 4th Battambang to Siem Reap:

This trip went well as far as I am aware. I got no complaints or feedback of any sort. It was nice to have the extra car with the bus to haul all of the bags with everyone which was good! They made really good time from Battambang to which was really good! Then the whole ordeal with one of our guys leaving a lap top in the car went really well! Thanks so much again for helping us get that to us at the airport!
