Fantastic tour of Angkor, Tonle Sap Lake and the surrounding highlights with Mr Sophoan

My wife and I just completed a fantastic two day tour of Angkor and Tonle Sap Lake with Mr Rath Sophoan. We knew that the temples and locations themselves would be very good (well - I admit that Tonle Lake Village was an interesting surprise!!), but Mr Sophoan made the experience all that much better with the comfort and (suggested) itinery of his tour. He is a very nice gentlemen who is well informed about many aspects of local history and culture, and he has excellent English skills to be able to convey his knowledge - and respond to numerous questions from a pair of unknowing Westerners. In particular, we thought the pace of his tour was very good - we never felt pressured or rushed to be somewhere or do something, but also felt that we didnt miss out on anything over the course of the two days. Mr Sophoan has some great tricks on how & where to enter the temples that can save you lots of queing and time, and has good recommendations for a comfortable lunch each day that would suit most tastes. Mr Sophoan was recommended to us by friends who had used his tour service recently, and we will have no hesitation in recommending him to our network of friends if Angkor is part of their travel plans. An amazing place and a very considerate and knowledgeable gentleman to see them with.

Great tour of Angkor Wat

We booked a day tour of the Angkor Wat area with Sophoan having read the reviews on Trip Advisor and were not disappointed. We didn't have much time in Siem Reap but the tour packed a lot into the day we had available. Sophoan is incredibly knowledgeable and was willing to answer all of the questions we asked, regardless of how silly they were. He was willing to share his personal experiences of living in Cambodia during some of the darker periods of its history which was very moving.

We appreciated the structuring of the tour in such a way as to avoid the big tour parties which really enhanced our experience of the temples. Sophoan pointed out all of the best vantage points to take photos from, including where to stand to appear to be nose to nose with the Buddha statue. Overall we just had so much fun on the tour with Sophoan and really appreciated his sense of humour. The temples themselves were incredibly beautiful and diverse and the day was definitely one of the highlights of our holiday.

Sophoan also arranged our transfer from Siem Reap to Ko Chang in Thailand which we were very happy we had arranged in advance as the Thai border crossing is pretty confusing and you need to change vehicles. We were met by a guide where our driver dropped us at the border who walked us across the border and ensured we knew what we were doing. The Thai leg of the journey was straight forward and we appreciated the driver's help getting us to the ferry.

Tours from Siem Reap

We have just returned home from a holiday which included a 3 night stay in Siem Reap to see the temples etc in the Angkor Wat area. Travel Cambodia arranged our tour including accommodation, private guide & driver etc. The arrangements and itinerary were excellent and gave us a good insight into this country --- past & present. I would recommend this company to other travellers.

Poan is a complete guide.

I've had the opportunity to travel to many countries and have had many local guides. Without a doubt Poan is # 1 in my book. He is friendly and courteous, has a good sense of humor and is so professional in everything he does. He knows not only about the temples in the Siem Reap area, but also can guide in other areas of Cambodia. He loves his country and his stories of Khmer culture add so much to the experience. I highly recommend Sophan to any person or group looking for a complete guide.

A unique experience!

Travelling to Cambodia is one very exciting and unique experience. Thanks to Mr Rath, our tour guide, my family and i enjoyed our days in Siem Reap. He brought us to all the right places and he is no doubt the best tour guide in Cambodia. You will see things you have never seen before, the temples and ancient monuments...amazing! Cambodian food is also a delicacy and overall the people will make you feel very welcomed due to their friendly and open manners. Huge recommendation for travellers who enjoy discovering new places and cultures!
