Best way to see SiemReap/ temples!

Highly recommend this trip. Its such a good way to see all the temples off the beaten track... Many you wouldn't see otherwise. Our guide BoBo was so helpful, informative and caring. Perfect for the job! Thank you. Its a full day but paced well so you have the right balance of cycling but also seeing all the temples. The included coconut juice was a nice touch!

Sustained effort!

After a lengthy online chat with Mr. Rath I confirmed the day trip - and it was worth it! The guide assigned was Mr. Sim, who was knowledgable (written his own book on Angkor Wat) and a nice chap. Slight hiccup at the start as there was confusion over which hotel we were in (hotel had several properties with similar names), but a call to Mr. Rath at 05:00 set that straight! If you are able to, it's worth doing the early start for the sunrise at Angkor Wat. You don't have to be right at the front of the lake, in fact if you're on the left hand side you get all pillars in your photos and the whole lake too. Sunrise may feel like it's disappeared even though it's bright and blue sky... Just wait, it pops up in spectacular fashion quite suddenly.

We took a packed breakfast from hotel which saved time and keeps you moving rather than going back and forth. By starting early, you also beat some of the rush at other temples.

Cold water is provided in the car, but do ensure you've taken some too.

It rained for a short while but umbrella's were provided (if I did it again I'd take my own smaller one as it's easier to put away in a bag). I'd advise shoes with good grip and ones that are easy to walk in. I just wore normal ballet pumps with a rubber grip and it was fine. No need for hiking boots unless that's what you feel most comfortable in. Ladies - avoid skirts and dresses unless they're long/flowy as there's lots of climbing up steep steps and not everyone likes a free show as they're trying to balance up a wooden ladder. Take a hat even if it's cloudy. If you can get cooking spray like Magicool then get that too.

Please please be respectful of the dress code. You're visiting temples, not an amusement park. The monks and local staff are too humble to tell you that tiny shorts and strappy tops do upset them. You're also not doing your own country/race proud.. We got talking to some of the local people that work in the temples and grounds, and it was sad that the same old list of tourists were being mentioned as being ignorant. Get your tan elsewhere people....

Lunch was in a road side restaurant (there's a whole line of them by a lake), which was good. Not as cheap as I'd thought it would be but they've a captive audience so can keep city prices I suppose. The food was worth it.

We didn't go to Angkor Artisans at the end of the tour as we were shattered (Mr. Sim was fine!), and it was only a five min walk from our hotel so we went for a stroll there ourselves another day.

It's a full day but worth going. These magnificent temples have withstood so much, the history of the country and religious fluidity has shaped current norms and lives... We learnt all this on the day. Thank you Mr. Sim.

3d/2n Angkor Wat and Siem Reap Tour

My husband and I spent 3 days with Mr. Sophoan Rath visiting Angkor Wat and all of the other sites in the Siem Reap area. It was an unforgettable experience and one which I highly recommend to anyone who wants a guide with extensive knowledge of the history of the great city of Angkor Thom. Sophoan helped us to efficiently negotiate the boarder crossing and gave us a very personal tour of his homeland. Mr. Rath is a joy to be around. His humor, insight into the life of people living in Cambodia, and kindness went above and beyond anything I would have expected a tour. This tour is great!

Day Trip to Angkor Wat from Bangkok

While planning our recent trip to Southeast Asia, we thought that it was going to be extremely difficult to do a day trip to Siem Reap Cambodia from Bangkok to visit Angkor Wat UNESCO World Heritage Site. However, we found about Sophoan and decided to booked a tour with him. The process was very easy and convenient. We paid a deposit of $100 USD via MoneyGram. Communication with Sophoan was great before, during and after the tour. A driver (in an air conditioned luxury van) picked up us at our hotel in Bangkok to take us to the Thailand border with Cambodia at 3am (as scheduled). Around 6am we arrived at the border, while the process can be seen as extremely terrifying, Sophoan helped us with all the crossing procedures making it a smooth one. Once in Poipet Cambodia Sophoan and a driver drove us for about 2 hours in a luxury SUV to Siem Reap. During the ride he was very communicative and introduced us to what we where going to be visiting putting everything in context. The schedule ran exactly as Sophoan planned. Once in Angkor we had breakfast before the guided tour started, then visited the breathtaking temples we had on schedule, had lunch, and at 4pm we started our journey back to the border. Sophoan, as a certified Tour Guide, is very informative and precise with every historic detail he gave us. He took us to many temples in the Angkor Complex and took great pictures of us. He knows the right spots for the best photos. The driver always had cold bottled water for us in the car. Before heading back to the border, Sophoan took us to a restaurant for lunch (very nice cambodian and vietnamese food). Sophoan is a very professional, kind and attentive person. He walked us through the border back to Thailand and we arrived at our hotel in Bangkok at 10pm (as scheduled). All in all, It was a very safe experience (no security concerns). There aren't enough adjectives that can fairly describe how wonderful this experience was. The experience was worth every cent and more. Great value for the money we paid. Can't recommend enough. Thank you Sophoan for the amazing memories!

We used this Agency and our tour Guide Sophoan was amazing and made the confusing and corrupt border cambodian crossing easy. We also used him later in the month to go from Siem Reap to Phonom Phen. Thank you!

Angkor Wat Services and Private Day Tours provide heart felt impeccable service. The easy flow and transition Mr. Sopoan Rath takes with each and every individual client makes you feel like you are traveling with dear old friends. I know there are plenty of travel companies but kindness and pleasantries when you travel abroad go along way. Poan removes all the confusion and makes room for you to enjoy your journey and have fun. Top-notch quality service, highly recommend!
